Name: Kara Palmer
Title: Director of Administration, Mendoza College of Business
Notre Dame career path: I joined Human Resources as a Compensation Analyst in 2008 and was later promoted to a Sr. Compensation Analyst. In 2011, I moved into an HR Consultant role, and in 2016 I was selected to be in the Leadership Rotation Program. Following Rotation in 2017, I was promoted to the Associate Director of Administration in the Mendoza College of Business. I am currently the Director of Administration for Mendoza where I support the Dean and the College in strategic staff initiatives and lead an amazing team of women!
How do you maintain a work-life balance: As I reflect back, one of my greatest accomplishments is my ability to have a successful career while also being the attentive mother to 3 beautiful children. While this balance has not always been easy, I have been able to prioritize both. There was female leader I once heard say, "you can have it all, you just cannot have it all right now." This has stuck with me and has helped me to balance my own expectations. Of note, my success would not be possible without the support of my husband, family, colleagues, and friends. I truly believe in the power of a strong support system!
