Name: Joanne Fahey

Title: Director of Research Communications for Notre Dame Research

Notre Dame career path:
I joined Notre Dame in 2014 as research communications program director, now director of research communications. My role is generally the same as it was when I started, but has significantly grown in scale! I now lead a team of four communicators serving over 20 research units here on campus.

How do you maintain work-life balance? Work-life balance is one my leading principles here at ND and I try to instill it in my team members. Personally, I really make an effort to know what I need to tackle each day and do so by writing a to-do list of key priorities and reviewing my calendar each night before I leave. That helps set me up for the next day and ensures I don't spend the whole evening at home wondering or worrying about what I have to do the next day. Depending on what is on the list, I also try and block time for specific projects to help me achieve my goals during my working hours.
