Eve Kelly has been appointed as the University of Notre Dame’s first diversity and inclusion program manager, assisting Eric Love, director of staff diversity and inclusion. She began the position on Aug. 16. Kelly’s responsibilities include assisting Love with diversity and inclusion initiatives such as the Diversity Speaker Series and Discussions, Employee Resource Groups, Diversity Education Volunteers and Diversity Catalysts and ongoing research on best practices.

“Eve brings a level of professionalism and expertise that will greatly enhance our DEI efforts,” said Love. “I am so excited to see what we can accomplish working together.”

Born in Chicago and raised in southwest Michigan, Kelly brings more than 15 years of experience in higher education to her new position. She has worked with students, faculty and staff throughout her career at five institutions and excels in advocacy and mediation, cultural competencies and facilitation in issues of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Most recently, Kelly was in the College of Science at Notre Dame where she served as an assistant advising professor. While there, she worked with first-year students in their transition to university life. Prior to that, she worked as a change management specialist in the Office of Information Technologies and was part of the Notre Dame Leadership Rotation Program, a highly selective development program during which she led three high-priority University initiatives within different departments over an 18-month period.

An alumna of the University of Michigan for both a bachelor’s degree in Africana studies and a master’s degree in social work, Kelly is pursuing a doctorate in diversity and equity in education from the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign with an expected graduation of May 2023.

Kelly is also a singer and multi-instrumentalist and is currently working on a jazz recording.
